MakerBloks

MakerBloks is a Montreal based startup that aims to enable children to build their ideas in the easiest way with real tools and components. Graduated on top of the first Canadian cohort of the Founder Institute, MakerBloks wants to help the young Do-It-Yourself community join the maker movement and we are the first step for the creative and curious.

MakerBloks are small interactive and magnetic building blocks to introduce children as young as 6 years old to the world of electronics. We created a learning toy that will be not only playful but will also act as a creative tool to allow them to think outside of the instruction manual, build their own electronic toys in a simple and safe way. Easily identified and connecting flawlessly every time, MakerBloks starts with a battery but is powered by imagination.

MakerBloks is also developing an iPad application to make the learning experience even more immersive. Our unique application of visual block recognition uses the front camera of the tablet to combine the real and virtual world. The child will be able to follow a fun story mode where he will have to solve puzzles and challenges using his real physical MakerBloks in order to progress in the story. In addition, children will have access to even more technical information about the components they used simply by taking a picture.

Our goal is to inspire and empower kids to think, design, experiment and create.
